Death Note The Musical
Light Yagami, a brilliant student, finds a notebook that kills anyone whose name is written in it, and sets out to rid the world of criminals until the eccentric detective L comes after him. Frank Wildhorn's musical of the Japanese manga by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata, with lyrics by Jack Murphy and a book by Ivan Menchell, directed by Stephen Whitson.
It first played the Barbican from July to 12 September 2026, where it set the theatre's records for the highest-grossing week and the highest-grossing single performance of a musical. On the back of that success it returns for a second season, from 23 March to 15 May 2027. Casting for the return is still to be announced. Ages 12+.

Death Note sells strongly at the Barbican, so the cheapest seats for a date go first. An off-peak date is a small saving, with mid-range seats at £60–£110 against £75–£120 at peak.

Where to sit
The Barbican's Stalls are the best in the house for legroom and views, but prepare for the continental shuffle. The Circle feels intimate with great central views, and its side slips are cheap but limited. In the Upper Circle, central Row A is highly recommended and smart value. The Gallery is best for spectacle, but you lose facial expressions at that distance. Seats run from £25 to £165.
