About The Venue

The Old Vic, originally opening in 1818 as the Royal Coburg Theatre, is a historic London institution renowned for its diverse programming, from Shakespeare to contemporary plays, under the enduring vision of Lilian Baylis. A Grade II* listed building, it boasts a grand Victorian interior and a proscenium arch stage, offering an intimate yet majestic theatrical experience. It continues to be a significant cultural landmark in London.

Seating

The Stalls are located on the ground floor, offering the most direct and immersive experience. The rake is relatively shallow, meaning views can occasionally be obstructed by taller audience members in front, particularly in the central blocks. The stage is quite high, so the very front rows (A-C) require looking up significantly, which can be uncomfortable for some during longer performances. Legroom is generally adequate but can feel tight in the central rows for taller individuals; aisle seats offer more space. Side blocks (Stalls Left/Right) provide good views but with a slight angle to the stage. The overall proximity to the action is a major draw for this level.
