About The Venue

The Peacock Theatre, opened in 1960 as a lecture theatre for the LSE, was converted into a proscenium arch theatre. Managed by Sadler's Wells since 1996, it is renowned as London's premier venue for international and national dance, alongside musicals and family shows. Its modern, functional design ensures excellent sightlines and a comfortable, intimate atmosphere for its 999-seat capacity.

Seating

The Stalls form the ground floor seating area, offering the closest proximity to the stage. Views are generally excellent, particularly for the central blocks. The rake is good, ensuring decent sightlines over the heads of those in front, though very tall individuals might still cause minor obstructions. Rows A-C are very close to the stage, providing an immersive experience but requiring an upward gaze, which might be uncomfortable for some during longer performances. Legroom is standard for a theatre of this age and design. For rows further back, approximately from row M or N onwards, the overhang from the Dress Circle can begin to obscure the very top of the stage, which might affect productions with significant vertical staging elements. Side seats in the Stalls offer a slightly angled view, but generally remain good. Access is typically step-free to the main Stalls entrance, with steps down to rows.
