Soho Theatre Walthamstow

Soho Theatre Walthamstow is a stunning restoration of the Grade II* listed former EMD Cinema, originally the Granada Cinema, an Art Deco masterpiece from 1930. This ambitious project has transformed the historic building into a vibrant cultural hub, blending its original grandeur with modern theatrical facilities. It now serves as a major venue for comedy, theatre, and music, aiming to enrich the cultural landscape of East London.

Seating

Stalls

Want to be right in the thick of it? The Stalls offer an immersive, stage-level view.

You'll find modern comfort and optimized sightlines thanks to newly installed seating in this meticulously restored Art Deco auditorium. Central rows typically provide excellent, unobstructed views of the entire stage.

The rake is generally gentle – common in former cinemas – though the new seating aims to minimize potential obstructions from people in front. Legroom is generally generous.

Just be aware that seats at the extreme sides of the front rows may offer an angled perspective, potentially cutting off extreme stage left or right depending on the production.

Circle

Get the full picture from the Circle, the elevated tier offering a comprehensive, panoramic view of both the stage and the grand auditorium. You'll appreciate the steeper rake here compared to the Stalls, a benefit of the venue's original cinema design, which ensures clear sightlines over the heads of those in front.

Newly installed seating prioritizes comfort and improved views. The front rows are often highly sought after, giving you an excellent overview of the stage action and set design.

While the height provides a broad perspective, it can make the stage appear more distant – consider binoculars if discerning fine facial details is a priority. Legroom is generally good, though it can vary slightly across rows.

Views from the side sections are generally clear, with minimal architectural obstruction, though the very top of the proscenium arch might be marginally obscured from the highest and furthest back seats depending on the production's set design.
