About The Venue

The Other Palace, originally opened as the St. James Theatre in 2012, was rebranded in 2017 by Andrew Lloyd Webber's Really Useful Group. It is a modern, purpose-built theatre designed to be a hub for new musicals and developing talent, offering an intimate and contemporary atmosphere. It features a main theatre and a smaller studio space, providing a unique platform for innovative productions away from the traditional West End.

Seating

The Main Theatre has been engineered with modern sightlines in mind. This intimate auditorium has zero structural pillars, light rigs, or balcony overhangs to obstruct your view. Seating is arranged in one unbroken, gently curved block from Row A to N without a central aisle, set on a continuous and very steep rake that ensures clear sightlines over the heads of audience members in front. The premium zone is centered in Rows D through J, offering an ideal eye-level perspective of the stage scale and choreography. Sitting in the very front rows (A and B) places you right at the foot of the stage for an incredibly immersive experience, though you will look slightly upward. The first few rows also wrap around the stage slightly, so those sitting towards each end will get restricted viewing. For budget-conscious bookings, the rear rows (M and N) and the outer edges of the rows are usually discounted; however, because the entire venue holds only 312 seats, even the very back row feels close to the stage action.

Toilets

Two accessible toilets: one in the foyer (Ground Floor), one outside the Studio (step-free via lift). Standard Gents and Ladies toilets also in the foyer (Ground Floor) with step-free access. Additional standard toilets on lower level.
