My Neighbour Totoro
A stage adaptation of Hayao Miyazaki's Studio Ghibli film, with the forest spirits of the film brought to life. It follows the sisters Satsuki and Mei as they discover a world of childhood fantasy.
Tom Morton-Smith adapted the film and Phelim McDermott directs, with music by Joe Hisaishi. It is a Royal Shakespeare Company production, made in collaboration with Nippon TV and Improbable, and features extensive puppetry. It has won six Olivier Awards. It is made with families in mind.

How to book
It sells steadily rather than out, so you can usually pick a date and a seat without racing. Peak performances carry a surcharge: mid-range seats run £43.30–£83.30 against £37.80–£73.30 off-peak, roughly 14% more, so an off-peak date is the easy saving. Acorn performances: every seat £30, £40 or £50.

For the best value, book ahead for an Acorn performance on a selected Wednesday or Thursday evening in November 2026, where every seat is £30, £40 or £50. Midweek you can also chance the day: day tickets for £30 are available from 10am on the day of the performance, limited to two per customer, though a seat is not guaranteed. TKTS has it nearly every day at around 26% off, so there is little point booking weeks ahead unless you want a particular seat. Pick an off-peak date if you can, as mid-range seats are about 14% less. Under-18s pay less, and groups of 6 or more get the biggest reduction, from £39.50 a head.

Where to sit
The Stalls have an excellent rake and sightlines, but the side seats are a gamble and some rows hide legroom traps. The Dress Circle gives solid central views; avoid the far sides and, if you're shorter, the Row A rail. Budget seats start at £15. Arrive early if you want a selfie under Totoro's umbrella.
