The Mousetrap
Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap is a murder mystery set in a remote country guesthouse. Seven strangers are snowed in, a murder takes place, and everyone becomes a suspect as secrets come out.
The play opened in the West End in November 1952 after a premiere at the Theatre Royal, Nottingham, and has been at St Martin's Theatre since 1974. It is described as the longest-running play in theatre history, and the production is now booking into its 75th year. The production includes a gun and a murder, and addresses some sensitive subject matter.

How to book
The Mousetrap sells steadily and is booking to July 2027, so you can usually pick a date and a seat when it suits you. Peak and off-peak prices are close.
Ways to pay less
You can usually leave booking to the day, as TKTS has it almost every day at around 42% off, which beats anything you can book in advance. If you prefer to be certain of your seat, an agency discount of up to 28% is available. Booking well ahead earns an early-bird rate of 20%, but this is less of a saving. Peak and off-peak prices are close, so choose the date that suits you. Groups of ten or more pay less, from £24.75 a head for Band B tickets on Tuesday and Thursday matinees.

Where to sit
At St Martin's, Row G of the Stalls is prime, but the front rows strain the neck and the back sits under the overhang. The Dress Circle has excellent views overall; avoid the far sides and the very back row. The Upper Circle is a steep climb, with a bar in the way and tight legroom. Seats run from £35 to £125.
