A Month in the Country
Brian Friel's adaptation of Ivan Turgenev's play, set on a Russian country estate in the nineteenth century. Natalya Petrovna's ordered life is upended when a young tutor arrives at the house, awakening desires that challenge propriety and set the household at odds. It is a tragicomedy of restless longing and domestic upheaval.
Lyndsey Turner directs at the Donmar Warehouse. Sophie Okonedo plays Natalya, with Patrick Gibson, Alistair Petrie, Daniel Rigby and Susan Brown in the company. The running time is 2 hours 20 minutes including an interval.

Ways to pay less
Book for the date you can make, as prices don't shift much, but an off-peak date offers an easy saving, with mid-range seats topping out at £50 against £55 on peak dates. The best value is a £15 standing ticket, if you don't mind standing, available online seven days in advance or at the box office for returned tickets. Otherwise, the £20 tickets for 35-and-unders are the cheapest way in, with seats throughout the theatre including the front row if you sign up to their email list.

Where to sit
At the Donmar, seats run from £15 standing to £72. The Stalls have excellent views and comfort, but check for any quirks of the production. In the Dress Circle, Row B is the best, while Row C is discounted and involves a climb.
