Brock’s Mill

Forty years ago, Bluebell Studios was the heartbeat of a nation’s childhood, where Bernard animated iconic children’s television. His wife Annie sewed costumes, while their daughter May played in the sunshine. Or so Bernard remembers it.

Now, the workshop is a mausoleum to his career. Bernard is alone, his life in aspic, but the past must be unpacked. May is grown up and has questions, and a reckoning is coming. This poignant new family drama is directed by Rufus Norris, former Artistic Director of the National Theatre, and written by RSC Writer-in-Residence Stewart Pringle. Brock’s Mill is a homage to stop-motion filmmaking and an exploration of the corrosive power of nostalgia, investigating the ownership of memory and the importance of being present.
