Operation Mincemeat
A musical comedy based on the true story of a Second World War deception. In 1943, British intelligence planned to fool the Nazis about where the Allies would invade by planting fake plans on a dead body.
It was created by the company SpitLip, formed by Natasha Hodgson, David Cumming, Zoe Roberts and Felix Hagan, and draws on sketch comedy and a range of musical styles. Robert Hastie directs. The show had sell-out runs at Southwark Playhouse and Riverside Studios before opening at the Fortune Theatre in 2023, where it has since run. The running time is 2 hours 35 minutes including an interval.

How to book
Operation Mincemeat is still hugely popular, so the best seats go weeks ahead, even midweek. The pricing is refreshingly simple: one price per band, the same peak and off-peak, at £60, £100 and £150. The cheapest tickets are only on the official website.

Book ahead for Operation Mincemeat, as the cheapest seats for any date go first. Peak and off-peak prices are close, so choose the date that suits you. Your best chance for a cheap ticket is to try for a £59.50 Day Ticket from the box office in the morning, though these are not guaranteed. Alternatively, sign up to the official mailing list for exclusive £59.50 Upper Circle seats. If you are happy to gamble, the fortnightly £30 ticket lottery is another way in, but a seat is not guaranteed. Groups of 10 or more get the biggest reduction, from £30.50 a head.

If selected, you’ll receive a unique link to purchase a pair of £30 tickets which must be redeemed within 24 hours. These tickets are valid for Wednesday through Saturday performances over the following two weeks, with seats allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Ensure you descramble the code word before entering as this will increase your chance of winning.

Where to sit
The Dress Circle is the level to aim for, with an excellent elevated view of the whole stage. In the Stalls, sit from Row D back; Rows A to C mean a high stage and a stiff neck. The Upper Circle is the budget choice, with distant views, a steep climb and the tightest legroom.
