The Hungry Ghost
Mei Leng Yew's debut play, The Hungry Ghost, stars Olivier Award nominee Mei Mac and is directed by New Earth Theatre Artistic Director Ailin Conant. The story follows a woman who, ignoring her mother's warnings about ghost month, unwittingly invites a hungry ghost into her new home with her secret girlfriend, leading to a struggle for control and the unraveling of her carefully constructed life.

Buying advice
How to book
The Hungry Ghost closes on 31 October 2026, so there is no long game here: book for the date you can make. Peak and off-peak prices are close, so choose the date that suits you rather than the one that saves a few pounds. Preview performances are cheaper from £15.
Ways to pay less
For "The Hungry Ghost", your best value is to book a preview performance, with tickets from £15. Otherwise, all seats are £25, so choose the date that suits you rather than trying to save a few pounds, as peak and off-peak prices are very similar. You can also find £15 Band C tickets, marked as green seats on the seating plan, available to anyone. Students get £5 off standard tickets priced £20 or more, and groups of eleven or more get every eleventh person free, which is the biggest reduction.

Where to sit
The Bush's main house is intimate, with excellent, steep sightlines; the Attic studio is a tiny black box that puts you right in the action.
