Seating
- Studio 1Arcola's main space: highly versatile, always intimate, with generally excellent views.
- Studio 2For a truly immediate, up-close theatrical hit in Arcola's most intimate room.
Studio 1
As Arcola's primary space, Studio 1 is a highly versatile black box, seating 120 to 200 depending on the show. Its flexible nature means you might be in raked bleachers or individual chairs, configured end-on, thrust, or in-the-round.
There are no fixed architectural obstructions like pillars or balconies, ensuring generally excellent sightlines. However, specific production designs – set pieces or lighting rigs – can occasionally create minor partial views.
Legroom is generally adequate but can vary slightly based on the specific arrangement for each show. Even in the furthest seats, you're close enough for an intimate, immersive experience.
Studio 2
For a more intimate and experimental experience, Studio 2 is your black box. It seats 70 to 100, with capacity highly dependent on the production's specific configuration.
Like Studio 1, you'll find flexible seating – often benches or individual chairs – arranged in multiple formats: end-on, traverse, or in-the-round. This adaptability means there are no inherent architectural restricted views.
The small scale of the room ensures a very close and direct connection with the performers, making every seat feel central to the action. Legroom is generally comfortable, though as with all flexible spaces, it can be influenced by the specific layout for a particular show.
Expect a raw, immediate theatrical experience.
