The History Boys by Alan Bennett
The History Boys is the Tony and Olivier Award-winning play by Alan Bennett, directed by Nicholas Hytner and designed by Bob Crowley. This landmark National Theatre production returns after 20 years for a strictly limited run.
The play tracks eight schoolboys at an all-boys Grammar School in Sheffield, as they navigate sex, school politics and their teachers’ intellectual battle of wills. Subversive, poignant and deeply funny, it explores sexuality, adolescence and the nature of history, challenging the purpose of education whilst reflecting the changing face of 1980s England. Recommended for ages 12+, this production contains strong language and adult themes.
