King John
A rare staging of Shakespeare's history play, performed by candlelight in the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse. After the death of Richard the Lionheart, King John must establish himself as ruler of England, but his desperate attempts to keep hold of power bring chaos and conflict across nations.
Jaz Woodcock-Stewart directs, making her debut at the Globe. The Globe's page lists violence, death, including the death of a child, and depictions of war, and all under-16s must be accompanied by an adult. Captioned, relaxed and audio-described performances are scheduled.

Where to sit
The Pit is as close to the action as you can get, but it's a famously demanding sit. The Lower Gallery has intimate views, but watch for the many pillars and backless benches. The Upper Gallery is the best value for a view of the whole theatre, though comfort and detail suffer.
The Sam Wanamaker Playhouse's own seating guide, level by level, is below.
