Girls
Girls is a play by Theresa Ikoko, set in Nigeria in 2014. Teenagers Tisana, Haleema and Ruhab are best friends, busy swapping notes on celebrities and dodging carbs. When they are kidnapped by militant insurgents and forced towards an uncertain future, they have only each other to turn to, and fear and religious differences begin to fracture their bond.
Ewa Dina, winner of the 2026 JMK Award, makes her Young Vic debut directing, with Hannah Akhalu, Tara Tijani and Sewa Zamba as the three girls. The play won the Alfred Fagon Award in 2015 and the George Devine Award in 2016. It runs in the Maria Theatre, with age guidance of 12+.

Buying advice
How to book
Girls is cheap and simple at the Young Vic: every seat is £22–£26, whichever night you choose.
Ways to pay less
There’s no need to book far ahead as the show sells steadily rather than out, and peak and off-peak prices are close, so choose the date that suits you. The best value is the £12 Lucky Dip, which assigns you a surprise seat at the start of the performance, though your party might not sit together. Otherwise, 25-and-unders and students pay less from £15, and groups of ten or more get the biggest reduction.
