La Distance
It is 2077 and Earth is breaking. As the planet buckles under environmental collapse, part of humanity has launched itself towards Mars, chasing a new beginning. Across millions of miles, a father fights to hold onto his relationship with his daughter as her new future unfolds on a distant red planet.
Tiago Rodrigues writes and directs La Distance, a play about separation, hope and the bond between parent and child. It is performed in French with English surtitles, with Alison Dechamps and Adama Diop in the cast, and follows its world premiere at the Festival d'Avignon last year. The running time is 1 hour 25 minutes with no interval, and the age guidance is 12+.

Buying advice
How to book
La Distance is at the Young Vic, with seats from £12 to £58. Preview performances are cheaper, from £12, and peak and off-peak prices are close.
Ways to pay less
The best value is a preview performance, with tickets from £12, so book ahead for those dates. Otherwise, peak and off-peak prices are close, so choose the date that suits you. If you're happy to gamble, day tickets for £12 are available on the day, but a seat is not guaranteed and you may not be seated with your party. 25-and-unders and students pay from £15, and groups of ten or more get the biggest reduction.
