Rent
Jonathan Larson's Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical, inspired by Puccini's La Boheme, follows a community of young artists and friends in New York's East Village in the early 1990s as they deal with poverty, love, ambition and the AIDS crisis.
Luke Sheppard directs a new production that grew out of his earlier revival at Hope Mill Theatre in Manchester, at the Tom Stoppard Theatre. Gaten Matarazzo of Stranger Things makes his West End debut as Mark. The cast includes Travis Ross as Roger, Billy Nevers as Collins, Lazy Violet as Maureen, Danielle Fiamanya as Joanne, Jeevan Braich as Angel and Joaquin Pedro Valdes as Benny.

Rent is one of the hottest tickets in town and has a Stranger Things alumnus in the cast, so expect it to fly: book early, especially if you want the budget seats. It's booking to March 2027, and peak and off-peak prices are close, so choose the date that suits you.

Where to sit
At the Duke of York's, the Royal Circle is the level to aim for: Row A is superb and Rows B to E are highly sought after. In the Stalls, Rows D to J are the sweet spot before the overhang. The Upper Circle's steep rake gives a full view of the stage, but you'll struggle with facial expressions from up there. Seats run from £30 to £160.
