The Lives of Others
The Lives of Others is a new stage adaptation of Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck's Oscar-winning 2007 film. It is set in East Berlin in 1984, where a writer and an actor are placed under state surveillance. From the attic above their apartment, a Stasi officer listens for evidence of subversion and becomes drawn into their lives.
Robert Icke adapts and directs, in the first time the story has been staged. Keira Knightley plays Christa-Maria Sieland, Luke Thompson is Georg Dreyman and Stephen Dillane is Gerd Wiesler. The running time is about two hours including a 15-minute interval, and the production is recommended for ages 14+.

Where to sit
The Dress Circle has the best elevated views at the Adelphi, though its rear rows get warm and the side seats lose depth. The middle of the Stalls is premium, but the stage is high and the overhang cuts the rear. The Upper Circle is clear and cheaper, but a steep climb, a tight fit and rising heat.
